Eawag, in its department of Environmental Social Sciences (ESS) has a vacancy for a Civilian Servant to support work of its project “Model Validation and Evaluation procedures for integrated NBS-PSS”(MOVE-NBS)

This project aims to develop evaluation approaches for planning support systems (models and tools that help urban planners) to improve strategic planning of Na-ture-Based Solutions (NBS) in cities. The project is supervised by Dr. Judit Lienert (group leader), and Dr. Martijn Kuller (Postdoc).

The civilian servant will be supporting work of the decision analysis group in general, and specifically for a literature review about environmental decisions using MCDA and in the research project MOVE-NBS.

I. Responsibilities

  • Literature research in scientific databases
  • Classification and meta-analysis of literature
  • Sending out and managing surveys and/or interviews with stakeholders and experts (could be in English, German, or French)
  • Data processing: data entry, statistical analysis, and data visualization (Excel and/or R)
  • Writing internal reports of the results
  • Possibly assist the preparation of workshops and produce workshop materials
  • General administrative support (e.g., writing protocols, preparing material for online tools)

II. Eligibility

  • The prospective candidate for this position is a student in a Social Science discipline or in Envi-ronmental Sciences, preferably holding a Bachelor or Master degree.
  • Other disciplines will be considered if the skill set matches.
  •  The position requires good experience with Excel and basic statistical skills, and if possible experience with online surveys, literature research, and data analy-sis and visualization in R.
  • Fluent oral and written English is required, German, French, and experience with urban planning and decision analysis are a plus.
